If you want to change the world, please spend a few minutes with someone who is struggling in life.
People do not want you to take their problems away. Or wish they had a magic wand. People only want to be seen for who they are, reminded of what they could be, allowed to be just themselves, without the masks the world expects them to wear.
I spoke to my school bestie last night, where she said once, “Being capable of doing something and showing up to do that when you are going through a traumatic life experience are two totally different experiences.”
Never have her thoughts not blown my mind away.
Simon Sinek often talks about a friend who was going through a very tough time. When Simon got to know of it, he was mad at her. “Why didn’t you tell me?” he was devastated. “I did.” It turns out, the friend had texted him to hang around.
She later told him that she read in a research, it takes only 8 minutes of quality time with a loved one—for you to get back to who you are.
We all are capable of creating wonders in our lives. Sometimes, we just need someone to remind us of those wonders. When you are going through a wonderful time in your life, may you never forget to remind someone else of their wonder.
When people are reminded of their wonder often, their turmoil stops wandering often.
