Lessons from Shark Tank so far

Some of the best pitches on Shark Tank are by people who have an experience in a previous job.
Some are by people whose first job is the startup itself.

Some sharks have worked in a job before.
Some have said no to handsome job offers in order to start-up.

Some founders wear merchandise of their own brand.
Others are just dressed up the way they feel comfortable with, sans the merch.

Some of them dress casually.
Some don the most professional attires.

However, the most common thing amongst all founders that get a deal is:

  1. Having a strong conviction in the brand they are building.
  2. Having an idea and understanding of business numbers, no matter their career background.
  3. Solving an existing problem (that can tap into a big enough market) in a unique way.
  4. Making sure the pricing justifies the product and the target customer.
  5. The brand/company has a singular or narrow focus, instead of going around in multiple directions at one time.
  6. They are not putting anyone else down, but are building their own brand by bringing together their
  7. Most importantly, the founder is grounded, listens well, speaks their truth when they don’t know the answer, know how to sell their product well, believes in themselves before anyone believed in them, and is an original instead of a copy of a founder they saw on a previous season.

Doing your own thing is a thing of beauty in itself.
