The best act of social service

I think the best act of social service we all could do together (and individually) is being a little kinder.

Everyone is trying to put a brave face.

But in reality, everyone is going through stuff you don’t know of.

People have been randomly and ruthlessly asked to leave their jobs. And they are trying to not bash their former employers on LinkedIn.

People have been ghosted by friends they loved. And are still trying to meet their work expectations, because you gotta be professional!

People are waking up to their parents shouting at each other. And putting a happy face on Zoom meetings, because, hey, we gotta get the work done.

I am in no way against getting work done.
In most cases, it is something that gives meaning to an otherwise meaningless life.

However, I am a big big advocate of being kinder to people. Sometimes without any reason.

And you can do both. Without compromising on either.

In a world where they have lost faith in themselves and humanity, your kindness might be the only ray of hope they might be looking for in an otherwise dark tunnel.

Through 3 decades on this planet earth, I have come to believe:

There’s hardly anything as miraculous as kindness.

More people should take it seriously
