You’ll not believe my best purchase ever.
It was something I got last year:
A bottle of authentic Kashmiri gulkand from a store in Srinagar.
We were on our team offsite in March of 2023.
When our drivers (we were a big team scattered into 3 cars) insisted we go to this showroom-kinda shop to shop for authentic Kashmiri things.
Which is when I noticed gulkand.
Since I ardently follow whatever Rujuta Diwekar says, I got it for myself.
And man, it was such a must-have thing in the strong summers in Delhi.
Every night, right before going to bed, I’d put 1/4th spoon of gulkand and cashew in milk, and sleep like a baby.
Gulkand is said to have calming properties, for the stomach.
However, by the time summers of this year came, the one I bought last year was already over. And I had tried purchasing it locally from a top consumer brand, and it was severely bad.
This time round, I looked up kashmiri gulkand online, and ordered it.
But here is the fun thing: I found two vendors who were offering the product in similar price range, however, one vendor had a ton of reviews and the other one did not have any review.
I chose to go ahead with the latter. It is because when you trust a small business that has no review, you may also end up helping a genuine seller.
The gulkand arrived yesterday. Way before it was supposed to. And man, it tastes yum. Just like it is supposed to 🙂
Lessons:
Trust small businesses. At least with small sum of money.
Make room for serendipity. I would have never gone to Kashmir, let alone go to a local shop for shopping.
You never know the next thing might be the thing that will end up changing your life. And your pre-sleep routine 🙂
