Pros and cons of reading fiction and non-fiction

Pros of reading fiction:

  • It keeps you engaged

Cons of reading fiction:

  • Though it provokes you to understand your emotions deeper, becoming a better at habits and productivity is still a job of non-fiction (mainly self-help).

Pros of reading non-fiction:

  • It helps you make better habits and be more productive (mainly self-help)

Cons of reading non-fiction:

  • Not technically a con, but a fiction is certainly more engaging than non-fiction.

What is the way out then?

Non-fiction (mostly self-help) writers should write out of their personal stories and then go on to share a lesson.

Fiction writers should go on to add something that also makes the readers be more productive or make better habits.

I know neither is the job of the authors putting those books out, but too much non-fiction leads to reading slump and too much fiction leads to uncontrolled addiction.

We need to find a middle ground.
