Why grace is important

An old parable goes: there are two ways to kill a tree. One, to cut it. Two, go to it and say a lot of bad words and it will die.

A lot to think about our life in this perspective. Why is it said that the only prayer you could ever say is thank you? Because gratitude makes you aware of the beautiful things around you. Even in a challenge of life that you are going through, there is always something to be grateful for if you are willing to look towards it.

Do you know what we are doing when we are not being grateful? We are taking things for granted. Our brain is designed to keep us safe because centuries ago we had to protect ourselves from the saber tooth tiger. And here we are, with all the comforts and luxuries taken care of, and we are still going in front of the tree and saying a lot of bad words and guess what? Most people die at 25 and are buried at 85.

If being present and grateful is so important, why not most people do it? Because it takes an effort of a millisecond, to shift from what’s wrong to what’s working. The ones who are actually alive are the ones who have made these tiny efforts of milliseconds. So can you. Now.
