Life operates by certain rules: whether you are a good person or a bad person, does not really matter.

What really matters is how much you are adhering to those rules.

Rule # 1: Be so consistent and true to your word that everyone knows that if you have endorsed something or made a commitment, it is final and pure. (PS: Do not follow this rule just to have validation; rather make fewer promises and let outcomes do the talking.)

Rule # 2: You are always responsible. If in the middle of an external crisis or an abusive relationship, although you cannot control what happens to you, you can always control how you respond. Respond may mean walking out in order to protect yourself, probably connecting with people who will make you feel supported, or as little as taking a break of 10 minutes to take a nature walk. Like Victor Frankl said, the greatest of human freedoms is the ability to choose one’s response.

Rule # 3: Your abundance is directly proportionate to the value you produce. And if it is not so, maybe you did not get that hike, or that promotion, someone who did nothing in the project got compensated equally as you who was slogging day and night: these attributes may hamper your enthusiasm.

Just remember that in today’s culture, if you are patient enough to be consistent with your own right despite someone else’s wrongs, you will be rewarded far greater that what you had imagined. Just keep moving forward.

Lead by the rules consistently and nothing short of spectacular will come out.
