Respect is a great thing. It makes us worthy of belief that we are doing great work and moving toward the right goals.
Except, when respect is expected from an unexpected source.
If we have self-respect and have taken the time to nourish ourselves from within, it becomes absolutely impossible to feel bad when someone else does not respect us.
The ultimate currency of respect boils down to filling the internal well of happiness and bliss. That requires time and effort and energy.
Wouldn’t it be a great idea to use your own energy to fill yourself up versus using the same energy requesting, begging, urging people to give us what we haven’t given to ourselves?
Our true worth lies in remembering and affirming our true worth: to ourselves. Daily. Consistently.
