You are super excited at the start of a new project.
Ideas are flowing.
You are happy.
There is joy.
There is hope.
There is possibility of a future that you think will change your life.
If not change your life, at least change your current circumstances.
And that would be good enough to change your life.
However, when you start (eventually) and continue showing up, you finally have a FaceTime with reality.
The project that began as an excitement does not look as refreshing or exciting.
It is way more difficult than expected.
You are hating how the most difficult parts of you have started to show up.
More than anything else, you have also come to terms with the reality that you need to work harder, work smarter, and do that every day.
It is this messy middle that is the scariest part of every project.
Which is why most of us do not look forward to new initiatives.
Or taking a lead on a new project.
Or heck, starting our own.
Because subconsciously we know that anything new will extract out everything old that isn’t serving us. And that’s heartbreaking.
However, when we persist despite the messy middle, when we continue showing up when showing up is the hardest thing to do, when we follow the quietest whisper of our intuition to continue where all logic asks us to discontinue, that is when we enter into the realm of magic.
A magic that we will be proud of witnessing.
A magic that will be a reminder of how powerful we are.
A magic that would tell us that the only thing that matters is persistence despite the storm, instead of being carried away by it.
When you happen to walk through the scary middle, that is when you get the license to stupendous magic.
No shortcuts.
