Last night was a peculiar one.
I have been suffering from cold, cough, fever, etc. for quite some days now.
However, last night was weird. I just couldn’t stop coughing. Woke up in the middle of the night multiple times.
So much so that I called up a nearby hospital at 6.45 am sharing my plight: “I can move and walk, but I have been coughing all night. Do you mind sending in the ambulance?”
They were so kind to respond, “It’s okay, you may avail of the ambulance.”
By 7.02, ambulance was at my home. (PS: Didn’t wake up my landlord or call my nearby friends because it seems very very weird to ask people to come help me. Later in the day, landlord Uncle came and my friends are en route to bringing me dinner so I guess perhaps I did not want to disturb them this early.)
The ambulance driver laughed at me, both times I went in and and when I got out.
However, inside the emergency ward:
- I was nebulised (so good staff)
- Was given cranula and 2-3 bottles
- Was moved from emergency ward to an internal emergency room
- And was treated pretty well
All of this, for a cost of INR 1,634 only.
I would have happily paid 5X for the relief they brought to me.
I also remember few years back I was suffering from severe gastric disorder and was on a metro towards Noida. The pain was so intense that I got down at Karol Bagh station and went to one of the super famous hospital chains. Lo and behold, I wasn’t attended for the longest time!
I eventually took the metro home and got to this usual hospital of mine 🙂
Good healthcare is a blessing. Huge blessing.
