- Just write. It needn’t be The Alchemist in the first go. It just needs to be there. Raw. Bad. Unedited. Just let it out of your head.
- You will have 10,943 things to do before you write. Don’t fall into the trap of them. Just write. Every single day. No matter what. If you can make time to go pee 4x-8x a day, you can absolutely make time to write a page a day.
- Do not worry about what will your family and friends think. Most likely, they won’t even read your book.
- Even if they do, the worst they can do is laugh. It only takes someone who does not put in the work to laugh at someone who puts in the work. After that, they may offer feedback, advice, suggestions, or perhaps not respond at all. Take them for what it’s worth. After all, you are the one who decides what to do with all of that.
- Appreciation is the wrong game. If you are in it for appreciation, you are in it for the wrong reasons. All artists tend to get swayed away by appreciation at the start. So did I, at the beginning of my game. It made me believe I was good because someone else validated it. If the validation did not come the next time, it means I was bad. However, people reflect what they are, not what we are. If they are nice to us, because they are nice; and vice versa.
- Your work does not end when you have written. Make small efforts to market and sell your book every single day. No matter if the sales are small. Learn from every step. The person who does 5 squats and push-ups a day is better than the person who does none.
- Make sure you are writing your book because you want to write it. Everything else will adjust.
