Saying no is polite

A lot of people are scared of saying no.

Ultra confident. Uber successful. Upper middle class people.

They somehow believe saying no is rude.

I’d agree. If you dismantle someone or disregard them or their ask, you are being rude.

So, what is the solution?

Say a polite no.

It reminds me of someone who reached out to me to get their book edited.

I knew they would not be able to afford my pricing. (Not commenting on their financial worth. I write books only for CXOs and thus, the pricing is at that rung. The inability for most people to afford my pricing is intentional.)

So instead of writing a sample for them, I told them my price range right away.

Of course, they said a no.

However, do you realise how much time and energy it saved us both?

No isn’t rude. It is polite, if done well. And way more powerful than you think.
