When you watch Chadhary by Coke Studio song on YouTube, at 5:57 one of the band members starts waving both his hands fast, instructing the crew to speed up the music.
His eyes are closed, the face bears a smile of contentment only an artist could wear.
But what struck me the most was this crew member did not “open his eyes wide open to make sure everyone in the crew watched him and obeyed his instructions”.
This is the difference between an artist and a labourer. No one makes those differences for us, however, an artist does not require a dominating force over them. They create and sync, out of their very nature.
The definition extrapolates to every single thing we do.
I may be an artist when it comes to writing, but when it comes to keeping home as pristine as my Mom does, I may be worse than a labourer.
Our life goal, perhaps, is to figure what brings out the artist in you. And do all the labour just to make sure the artist in you shows up often.
