2024 was the *first* entire year I never had a job.
Half of 2023 and some time prior was also a business, but this year was different.
However, that is not the news.
The news is, that I always wanted the stability of a monthly salary.
“No matter what, I am always going to do a job.”
“I am not someone who is on her own.”
Fast forward to this year:
• I never felt the urge to go back to a job. There were challenges, but not a single thought of giving up.
• No humdrums of building an agency and hiring 50 people. Just me, an unconventional confidence in my work ethic, and driving the business by values not valuation.
• Respectfully said no to working with everyone I did not want to. Once you are done with energy draining people, the door is closed forever. You can’t put a price tag on your mental energy.
• I made sure everyone I worked with was also someone I could gladly be friends with, outside of work. Not that everyone is a friend. But when they pass that test, there is going to be a lot more enjoyment at work.
As I was reflecting on all of this yesterday, it reminded me of the time when I went for paragliding more than two years back.
I was shaking inside from the time we booked to the time we reached the site.
But you wear your harness and jump off the cliff, you have no choice but to fly. 💃
