In 2024, I took just one flight.
(No my friend, this ain’t a clickbait :))
Here is how:
– I work from home. Client calls happen over the screen/phone.
– My idea of vacation is going for meditation retreats to Mt. Abu, where I spent a total of ~30 days this year. The place doesn’t have an airport. So train rocks đŸ™‚
– Most other travels to my hometown Kota. The city doesn’t have airports either đŸ™‚
However, why am I telling this to you?
Because this year a lot of my personal focus was to find stability and peace in my daily life.
• I wanted to have dinner by 5.30, mediate after that, read a book and fall asleep reading.
• I wanted long walks, endless walks, purposeless walks, and sometimes walking just because why not!
• I wanted to go to my spiritual retreats without worrying about “how will I manage work”.
Most importantly, I wanted to live my own life. No one else’s.
I did all of that. Even more. And had the most fun doing it.
In life, we go for treks, impromptu vacations, planned vacations, etc., often to show it off to others that we are living a great life. Our Insta stories should be dazzling even if our life story is drizzling with tears. Sad.
If you love travelling 700 of the 365 days of the year, please do that. However, I share my example because even if it helps one person live their life their way instead of someone else’s, we would have won.
Does not mean I will never travel again. I might take 50 flights in 2025. Or might take zero. As life unfolds.
However, what I know for sure is life only gets better when you have divorced FOMO.
You do you.
As our favourite Taylor says:
You’re the only one of you. Baby that’s the fun of you!!
