Are you lonely?

The Delhi book fair is a crowded affair.

However, something at the book fair caught my eye yesterday that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

In the crowded aisles of the book stores filled with nerds where the most common word used was a polite “Excuse me”, I saw a LOT more people in one of the sections of the Penguin book store.
The section read:

“Read this if you are feeling lonely”.

Usually the sections are: Non-fiction, fiction, business books, autobiography, classics, etc.

But here was perhaps a new invention. Something I haven’t seen in so many bookstore visits over the years. The books were also quite intriguing, not the kind that will mess with your brain.

What also made me hopeful was the people feeling lonely chose to nourish their soul with books instead of numbing their senses in a bar.

It made me feel a bit more positive of the world we are creating.
That is what books do.
As one of the books in the “lonely” section read: What you are looking for is in the library 🙂

I truly hope you find what you are looking for, in the library.

PS: In the picture:
Me sitting on a side step outside one of the book stores in the fair, getting glances from passers by. But who won if I chose to eat santra by sitting and they chose to eat samosa while standing :))

PPS: Some time later, a bunch of others also chose to sit next to me at a distance. Sometimes you gotta set an example that “being weird” is absolutely okay :))
