11 unspoken, unusual, unwritten reasons why we read books

1. To have coherent information about a subject in one place, without having to work for it.

2. To understand someone else’s point of view on that subject

3. Because that topic is interesting to us. Period.

4. Because scrolling is harmful to health (both physical and mental).

5. Because we want to get out of the rut of thinking and want to get to a place of conscious careful consuming instead of mindless consumption through scrolling.

6. Because on a topic of “how to become an entrepreneur” all five sharks on Shark Tank would write a totally different book. Every single human being has a different playbook on the same topic.

7. Because when we want to lounge on the couch, we want to chill. Books help us do exactly that.

8. When we spend 3 hours scrolling for which we had intended to spend only 10 minutes, we feel guilty. We never feel guilty on buying five books at a bookstore instead of two.

9. Because we want to experience a world that is different from ours.

10. Because “there is no difference between people who don’t read and people who can’t read”.

11. Because your life is too short to make all the mistakes yourself. It is wiser to be a walking PhD on life, which is only possible through reading.

So don’t listen to the rich boys that say books are dead. Because the people that truly come alive know they are there courtesy books. And are richer financially as well as mentally, just in case you were wondering.
