The cost of living life on your own terms

  • Everyone thinks you are happy as ever. Little do they know, it is your prolonged frustration that is the seed of your “happy” life. (One of the reasons why Ranbir as a singer was so successful in Rockstar and ADHM—the pain becomes the fuel for almost every successful artist).
  • People think you don’t care about them at all. Again, they do not know that you were sick and tired of caring for them so much and not getting a bit of that care back, that you decided to become detached. You were left with no option while everyone kept believing you were ruthless just because you didn’t succumb to victimhood because their ruthlessness and instead finally decided to step up for yourself.
  • You doing good gives people the license to think you are a bank and a vending machine. So they ask and they ask and they ask. The best relationships, though, are not built on things. They are built on being there for each other, through thick and thin.
  • Endless pokes and accusations from relatives is the staple.
  • Love for you is replaced by quiet loathing and resentment for you.

On the contrary, here is the cost of NOT living your life on your own terms:

  • All of the above, just that this time it is from the person in the mirror, instead of everyone else.

So my wonderful lads and ladies, please go live your life on your own terms. At the end of the day, even if you have nothing, you will still have yourself. My experience in life has taught me it is way worth more than all the wealth the world could offer.
