You’ll regret not going to a funeral

The other day, a 76-year old uncle in my spiritual class passed away.

I went to his cremation.

Today was his funeral, what we call as the 13th day post demise.

I wanted to go, because he would always smile to me every single day. One of the nicest people out there.

I did not want to go, because it would screw up my entire day’s schedule.

But then my father told me something: You might regret your entire life, that you did not go to the funeral of someone who almost looked at you as a daughter of the family. (In spiritual class, we are taught we are a family.) My Mom also told me that ideally it is not good to skip important gatherings, but if you wish to, better skip gatherings of happiness but never of demise.

Such wise people <3

Finally, I went.

And I am glad I did.

Very very few things are worth screwing up your day’s schedule. This was that. And, I will also learn how to manage myself better.

Don’t do things you would regret for the rest of your life.
