Ed Sheeran is a global sensation. His voice literally colours and fractures the light.
But imagine if Ed Sheeran’s songs were played at the park my Mom goes for a walk to, every morning. It is inhabited only by elderly men and women who understand their mother tongues and Hindi. These women raise the most brilliant kids, run households and companies, and in a way build our nation. However, Ed’s songs that make kilometres worth of lines outside his concert venue would only find cringe in that park.
For no one’s mistakes, of course. Only different tastes and preferences.
Ed’s goal is not to make my Mom and her friends love Ed Sheeran. Ed’s goal is to be at the place where people love him, and do that more often and in unique ways.
You have to find places where you belong. That is true for the humans that go to park every morning to catch up with their friends, Ed Sheeran, and you and I.
