Don’t get inspired…

Don’t get inspired by people’s success on social media, their blue tick, the content they create, how much money they make, what all they have done, etc.

Rather, get inspired by their courage, the vibes they give, the joy you feel being around them, and most importantly, how much do you get to execute from them to their lives.

Worshipping people is easy.
Because it puts blinders on our wisdom and makes us pure devotees.
Getting inspired by their hard work is tough.
Because now you will have to put in that hard work as well.

I got goodies!

Have you seen those celebrities showing gifts given to them by merchants – in their Insta stories?

I also felt the same, when a client sent me his protein shake, hot chocolate and tea as a token of gratitude for our working engagement together.

Mazaa aa gaya 🙂

However, beyond that, there were some cool customer relationship things that I learnt:

  1. Nothing was wrapped in plastic. Everything in perfectly-sized cardboard boxes with their name and branding.
  2. Every pack had a small satin bag containing 2-3 discount cards as well as dhoop batti with a wonderful aroma. Talk customer care.
  3. They cater to the premium segment and have based the entire packaging around that. While someone may argue that it is not worth the price, however, price is not only the product. Price is an experience. And they took wonderful care of understanding who their customer is.

On that note, protein shakes are being consumed by yours truly after workout and hot chocolate will be used for baking cake. And since it is pre-ready masala tea (containing milk powder as well) – which my Mom doesn’t like, so offered it to a friend who also loves such premium products.

Win-win 🙂

What an influencer!

These days you are learning a lot about my meditation retreat experiences. You’ll have them coming more, for the coming few days.

So while on that retreat, I happened to meet an influencer who stays there in the ashram. And when I went to meet him in his office (that was adjacent to the room he stayed in), I was stunned by what I saw!

While the ashram is big, I had thought his room as well to be one.

But that’s what his room was a reminder of: giving, sacrifice and living as who you are – not as what you want to show.

And meeting him was indeed a wonderful experience 🙂

Starting from zero

All the influencers you follow, none of them were born with the followers they have.

Also, none of them is Shah Rukh Khan’s kid.

So, when you feel that they got “lucky”
When you believe that you just can’t “get there”
When you think others had privileges “you don’t have”
When self doubts starts encircling you
When success seems possible only by magic,

Remember that…

Everyone started at zero. Everyone.

If the ones who made it had something special, they had this:

  • Breathtaking consistency
  • Belief in themselves when the world was busy rebuking them
  • Trust that if it is possible for others, it is possible for them as well
  • Learning from failure
  • Learning from others’ success

And many more pieces of the puzzle that get arranged once you actually step into the pool.

Start from 0. You did so in school. See where you are now. Start again, for a different curriculum of life you want to be living for.

Selfie while crying?

Everyone on the internet is doing fine.

And looking wonderful in their stories.

Which, of course, is a great thing.

However, bring me a successful person and I will show you the number of times they failed. Success is a numbers game. Zero exceptions. You can, of course, inherit wealth however what you do after that – become Mukesh Ambani or Anil Ambani is up to you.

So when you think it is only you who is scared while everyone else is already writing their autobiographies, remember that scene from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. where Ross is broken and shattered seeing Rachel going, and he says in a hoarse queer voice, “I’m fine!” That’s exactly the voice of the internet is. Trust your process, look up to people for inspiration, however, never ever mistrust or doubt your hard work. Because, no one ever clicks a selfie while feeling sad sitting in their balcony. Everyone will put a happy selfie, that perhaps a fake one just to join the bandwagon of impressing the social media that they are also like them.

About what you are doing

Instagram stories shows the world what you are doing.

The only problem being: no one really gets happy on seeing the fact that you are doing great, and they aren’t!

The point then, is to have a life that others would want to draw inspiration and action from, instead of just allowing them to tap tap tap and criticise you and go away.

It’s a difficult process – to go away from what the world likes towards what they really really want.

The only easy process is eating mindlessly. Everything else takes efforts.

When tired

If people take care of their health and mindset, they can’t get tired.

Then what is the feeling they get that is called “tiredness”?

It is technically a nudge to change.

Take a different course.

Start believing yourself more.

Change the definition of possibility for you.

Learn from those who have already done what you have done.

Divorce anger, marry calm.

See things from a different perspective to be viewed from a different perspective.

The need for attention

Go to your favourite influencer on Instagram and you’ll discover they reached here by ton of hard work and patience.

Even the teenagers with massive following have been doing “their thing” since their childhood, perhaps even as toddlers.

Time is a scarce resource, and people want to leverage it to get instant gratification; along with wasting it on the side.

Read the above line again.

And when you do realise the value of time and the value of building an (online or offline) asset, start dedicating the rest of your life to creating it.

Your intuition and your ability to create consistent value matter much more than the viral videos that are forgotten as easily as tiny amount of cheese is forgotten in a pizza.

You are an Influencer

Influencer.

Such a cool term.

Such a term to be going forward to.

Such a wonderful term to be associated with.

Such a term that people want to give up everything in order to become one.

Here’s a truth you’ll definitely love: You are an Influencer.

If not millions, there is AT LEAST ONE person who looks at you and decides their route.

They may be online, or even a child at home or a younger sibling or a nephew or niece.

People set you as an example.

Do you set yourself as one?
