What’s the goal?

The goal is to be so internally fulfilled that even though you may have time, you don’t want to scroll Instagram.

The goal is to respect your introversion and work in a team simultaneously.

The goal is to look at what’s working in others versus where they lack, as this is what a loved one does (with some occasional nudges here and there).

The goal is to have an understanding. The understanding that fortunately comes from within and through reflection, not external factors including OTT or social media.

Something like this

Going through this.

Saw it on James Clear’s newsletter, replicating it for you:

Bill Watterson, the cartoonist and creator of Calvin and Hobbes, on the difference between ambition and happiness:

“…having an enviable career is one thing, and being a happy person is another.

Creating a life that reflects your values and satisfies your soul is a rare achievement.

In a culture that relentlessly promotes avarice and excess as the good life, a person happy doing his own work is usually considered an eccentric, if not a subversive. Ambition is only understood if it’s to rise to the top of some imaginary ladder of success.

Someone who takes an undemanding job because it affords him the time to pursue other interests and activities is considered a flake.

A person who abandons a career in order to stay home and raise children is considered not to be living up to his potential-as if a job title and salary are the sole measure of human worth.

You’ll be told in a hundred ways, some subtle and some not, to keep climbing, and never be satisfied with where you are, who you are, and what you’re doing.

There are a million ways to sell yourself out, and I guarantee you’ll hear about them. To invent your own life’s meaning is not easy, but it’s still allowed, and I think you’ll be happier for the trouble.”

Productivity Tips

Some productivity tips, not season specific or specific for place you’re working from.

Work every time, you just need to decide.

1. Don’t receive a call on the first time, unless it’s scheduled. It turns out, when you will call them back an hour or two later, the “important” work would’ve been resolved. So would be your time be saved.

2. Take a nap post lunch, do NOT engage in phone after lunch. Will make you happier, and of course, more productive.

3. One minute, every hour – take a break. Move, or sit still. However, just a break.

4. Have your goals for tomorrow, tonight itself. Your mornings will be saved from internet in the morning.

5. After having the goals for tonight, tell everything to God. Everything – good or bad, meetings, aha moments, etc., during the day – give it to Him. Surrender all good as a gratitude to Him, surrender all that is not good, to him to handle. You will be mesmerized at how your life starts falling in place.

That’s it folks! I could write a ten more; however doing less makes chances of execution better.

I dream of a world

I dream of a world, where…

• where we could tell each other that we need help

• where asking for help would be considered a sign of strength and not of powerlessness

• where failing in life did not mean we are a failure

• where when we said no, we did it respectfully

• where we appreciated our loved ones for their journey even if they are not doing what we wished them to do

• where we learnt how to tolerate our angst against people whose sole and soul role is to make us stronger, and to show us that our time is way to important to try to change them

• where we just knew that we are loved

• where we can just be, instead of trying to be what we do not even wish to see.

Hard work is too hard

Why don’t your efforts come to fruition when you try too hard, ever thought about it?

What happens when the result of your effort does not match what it should be?

Simple.

At a core level, we don’t believe that we deserve that success.

Why don’t we believe that? Because we are probably hanging around with:

• same people

• same habits

Which ones are holding you back?

Unexpected

You wake up in the morning and are filled with utter positivity.

You get out of your home and receive an unexpected news.

A news that tells you that you are not required.

You didn’t expect it. However it did happen.

You don’t know what to do now.

Then what to do? How to proceed? How to make the next right move?

Here’s how: take some time. Take the time to be calm. Take the time to relax. Take the time to think.

And then, take the step that you would proudly be able to tell God.

The Perfect Day

If you don’t like working on PPTs, are you doing something along with it that you love?

It’s okay to feel sleepy when you’re not rested, are you making best use of you time when you are well rested?

If your parents did not give you a perfect childhood, are you giving them a perfect older age life?

It’s okay if you want to change how the current world looks like, question is are you starting with yourself? Daily?

No one was offered a perfect world on the day they were born.

Everyone, was offered an opportunity, to leave the world a little better in the un-defined number of years they were given. If you, like the rest of us, do not know the date of your death, today would be a great day to start.

The measure of goodness

What if you shout at everyone at work and at home, and think you are a good person just because you are kind to people in a temple?

Your personality is defined by what you do consistently, everywhere.

If your personality changes and becomes different at different places, that’s conditional formatting.

That isn’t you.

The question, to consider then, is this: “Who or what you are in your most comfortable space?”

Do you want to retain that part of you or does it need some alteration?

Don’t think of change, think of who do you wish to become when that change becomes a part of you.

Think of you-ing, versus you-doing.

The problem

If you wanna know what’s your problem, just try spending some time with yourself in solitude. That’s the real game.

All your weaknesses will come to the surface.

All your problems will come out with a revelation: that the source of them is common.

And when the source of that is common, the solution has to one.

What is that one, has to be decided and implemented by the one reading this right now.

Implement. Execute.

Success is taking too much time…

If success is taking too much time for you to unfold, it’s not because you are incapable.

It’s perhaps because somewhere, inside your head, you still don’t believe that you deserve this success. And since you don’t believe it, your belief always comes true.

We talk about self confidence.

What about self confidence for success? When you have it, you will know it will move mountains.

Bonus Point: Self confidence comes from doing the work.

At the face value?

In the past week, I happened to meet two retired armed forces officers.

One of them served the country in Kargil war on the border, and also at the Siachen Glacier.

He told stories of how his colleagues with whom he used to have dinner with on one night, the next morning he used to carry their corpses on his shoulders.

The other one, the skeptical part of me judged him as arrogant, yet he turned out to be profoundly detached. After serving in the Navy for 18 years, he retired. That’s not the story. The story is: his two sons are also serving in Navy right now. Not only that, he has also adopted a son because his parents couldn’t take care of him.

Talk sacrifice.

Talk detachment with infinite love.

Talk service.

Now compare that with the complaints that you made today. Are they actually relevant?

You have the power to change it, which no one in these circumstances has ever had. Go use it!

How to predict your future accurately

If there were a workshop where you were taught how to create your future, versus an astrologer offering you horoscopes, where would you go?

If you are like most people, you’d definitely love to go to the astrologer.

If you are not like most people and are still reading, use the following parameters to predict your future accurately:

A. If all that you do is for uplifting yourself and making your life better, your future looks bright.

B. If along with that, you ALWAYS have a big goal of making other people great and rise higher, there is nothing that can stop you.

O, btw, anyone going to the astrologer?

Why most people don’t meditate

When we sit to meditate, we sit for having an appointment with our own thoughts.

It means the thoughts where we felt abandoned, hurt, egoistic, irrational, powerless, etc. all come to the surface.

That’s why most people don’t sit down to meditate.

And that is the reason you must sit down to meditate. Meditate means “tapasya” in Hindi, which in turn means “to burn”.

Burn all your weak habits and attitudes that aren’t serving you my friend.

And if that’s something you want to live with, don’t meditate.

The big set of problems

The big set of problems.

Peopl asking a ton of questions.

People seeking for help.

People not understanding you.

To focus on your goals.

To create and be.

The list is endless.

Well, this is what you were put here on this plant earth: to figure out this thing called “life” and be proud that you did.

Breaking the norms

To break the norms does not mean break the legal norms and go murder the person you’ve desperately wanting to do for years.

Breaking the norms, may seem useful (and powerful) when you break the ones that are not serving you, like:

  • You may choose to go workout instead of making tea for someone who is already busy getting obese. (Love begins with the one in the mirror.)
  • You may choose to get up from a boring meeting and come back after a 10-minute walk (your mind and body get recharged by missing out on irrelevant stuff.)
  • You may choose to cook a ten-minute khichdi versus waiting for a quick 30-minute calorie filled home delivery.
  • You may choose to send that email you know you have been waiting to send, versus scrolling a meme page on Instagram.
  • You may choose to do a quick reading of at least two pages, versus listening to gossips of others on your metro ride.

You have tonnes of norms to break, that aren’t serving the society. More than that, you.

Will you break the norms for You?

Last one?

Rest assured, you won’t ever know what and when is going to be your last one.

Today, being the last day of the year, a lot of people are thinking of what the last year did to them, reviewing it, etc.

What if, we treated each day with the urgency of the last day.

Some of the benefits that are going to accrue:

1. You will stop hanging around with people like whom you don’t want to look like.

2. You will be more kinder towards your work.

3. You will stop procrastinating on the thing you need to do the most.

Last one?

Well, you will never know the last one for you.

Time

You may want things to happen quickly.

You may want results to pop out like a toasted bread.

You may also want to show them to others.

However, what takes time, takes time.

The awesome stamina you have after three months of strength training.

A wonderful friendship that has seen the scars of time.

A goal that made you rise earlier every single day.

Great things take time and patience.

And make you more powerful in the process.

Here’s wishing y’all a Merry Christmas!

Getting bored?

Getting bored?

Or getting tired?

Or not getting recognised?

Or not getting applauded?

Or not being noticed?

Bored is a feeling we seldom feel.

If we do, it’s a great one to move yourself inside, in this world of too much outside.
